Paracortical Lymphoid Hyperplasia

Paracortical Lymphoid Hyperplasia

Cell-mediated immune responses are carried out by T cells, mainly CD4+. Virus' are the main culprits that requiree a CD4+ immune reponse in order to be cleared. Paracortical, stands for the location of T cells with a lymph node, and therefore, with T cells large, dark follicles are seen in reactive changes with stimuli activating the CD4+ pathway. Between these follicles, there are large lymphocytes, with round nuclei, open chromatin, and large numerous nucleoli. Enlargement of the peripheral endothelial and lymphatic vessels can also be seen.
