Periodic Acid Schiff

Periodic Acid Schiff, also known as PAS, is a staining reaction that stains complex carbohydrates a magenta colour. This stain is used to unveil goblet cells which store mucous in the gastrointestinal tract, as well as the basal laminae of cells.
